The cleaning solution and carpet are heated by forced air to assist in the cleaning process, to aid in drying, and to save time. We'd been using a Kenmore canister carpet cleaner a couple times a year for 12 years- a gift from my dad along with a puppy. Well, the dog is 12 years old now and doing fine. The carpet cleaner has been iffy about working and finally broke tonight. We quickly did research on the internet and decided that a Hoover was the one to get. At 10pm we drove down to the local Wal-mart to look at the two Hoover models that were there. We decided on the Agility because of the hand held power brush attachment. Since the downstairs was all prepped (furniture moved and carpet vacuumed) we opened the box and got started. It was truly ready to go right out of the box.
I have never used carpet cleaner soap and I ran across a review that mentioned it wasn't necessary and any soap residue left in the carpet can attract more dirt. Don't hesitate to try plain water yourself. You will still have a muddy filled collection tank.
The Agility is very easy to manuver, the containers were easy to fill and dump (into the toilet)and it left the carpet dryer than our previous machine. It wasn't as noisy as I expected and one of our pups followed me around and laid down- on the finished part of course. I would have continued on the upstairs but my husband found his turn with the machine was lulling him to sleep!
Cleaning up was quick- best done in the kitchen in case of drips.
The booklet mentioned vacuuming after it is dry to remove the tracking lines. I've always done that and find it also removes the last of the dirt that has been drawn up to the surface.
We've been in our new house for 7 months and have 4 dogs (2 under a year). The Agility is a welcomed addition.

I'm one of those guys who does his research before I make a large purchase - I all but ignore "advertising". The Mrs. and I had a smaller Bissell, and it performed all right, but it had a single "tank" unit that was pretty small and wasn't that easy to get on and off of the machine. It seemed like we were changing tanks every few steps. It also had no rotating brushes, in fact no "scrubbing" action at all. We paid something like $120-130 - and at THAT time it seemed like the "best deal".
The Mrs. got a new puppy a few months ago and while he has improved he still occasionally leaves "surprises" around. Our house has white carpeting - YIKES!
We finally decided to get serious on the carpet cleaning business. Based on my experience with the smaller Bissell costing well over $100 a couple of years ago I expected to get well over $200 for our new machine. I did my research. I compared Hoovers with Eureka's and other manufacturers, and sure enough, MOST of the "higher end" machines were in the over $220 range. But I found this Hoover - close to their "top of the line" for a home machine - and it not only had reviews that suggested it was the best (cleans better, easier to use, larger tanks, etc) but it was a good $60 LESS than the competition.
Hey, I'm all about saving a buck when I can. We ordered it! It came in two days and we went to town on 6 rooms of white carpeting. The machine has two LARGE (over a gallon) tanks - one for the hotwater/cleaning solution, and one to suck up the mud from your carpet. Both tanks are a snap to get in and out of the machine - literally a finger touch. The machine comes completely assembled - we lifted it out of the box and went to work. It has scrubbing brushes that you can turn on or off, depending on what you want. It cleans like a champ and you should SEE what comes out of your carpet! We were so happy we took the included hose attachments and went out and did our cars upholstery and floor mats - also a snap.
The carpet is white again, the puppy is learning, the Mrs. and I are happy. Highly recommended.

Who knew carpet cleaning could be fun. I love my new Hoover Agility. It's lightweight so it doesn't kill you lugging it up and down stairs (my house has 3 stories) and it doesn't take two people to do it. The separate tanks are great — you never recycle dirty water which means my carpets come out even cleaner than with older machines I've used. This machine also has great suction power and doesn't leave carpets overly wet. They dry very quickly after cleaning. Definitely a great product.
